Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey field hockey team scored four unanswered goals to erase and early two-goal deficit and top visiting SUNY Cortland 4-3 on Sunday.
The win capped the regular season for both teams with the 10
th-ranked Lions improving to 15-4 and the Red Dragons falling to 8-7.
Next up for TCNJ is the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament, which begins on Thursday, November 1 at Rowan University. Game time is 6 p.m.
Prior to the game, the team's six seniors were honored for their hard work and dedication to TCNJ's program. Honored in a brief pre-game ceremony were

Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls), and
Christy Wham (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville).
Cortland got the early jump scoring 23 seconds into the game with
Erin Smith (Greene, NY/Greene) scoring unassisted.
The Red Dragons made it 2-0 seven minutes later as
Erin Carrino (Baldwinsville, NY/C. W. Baker) swept in a pass from
Karly Vdoviak (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown).
The Lions gained momentum as the half progressed and were rewarded with a goal when Passucci tapped on a short pass from Jenkins with 8:09 left cutting the deficit to a goal.
In the final minute, the Lions knotted the game at 2-2 with Wham tucking in a short pass from
Jordan Calderone (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) to send the game into the half tied.
Calderone gave TCNJ its first lead of the game 3:21 into the second half knocking in a loose ball for her second tally of the season.
Ten minutes later the Lions netted their fourth straight goal as Nealon ripped a shot from the top of the arc that Jenkins deflected in. That goal made it 4-2 with TCNJ in front.
The Red Dragons continued to push and pulled to within 4-3 with 55 seconds left in the game as Vdoviak scored from close range, but ran out of time before getting the equalizer.
In goal for the Lions, freshman
Roisin Dougherty (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) made six saves for her 14
th win of the season.
Cortland keeper
Amanda Perricone (Bedminster, PA/Pennridge) also finished with six saves.
