Glassboro, NJ … The College of New Jersey baseball suffered a 7-3 loss to Rowan University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Friday.

Rowan built up a 5-0 lead before the Lions got on the scoreboard with one run in the sixth. Senior Jimmy
Ruzich (Verona, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) singled and went to second on a balk. He advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch.
Trailing 7-1 in the ninth, the Lions showed some mettle and applied pressure to the Prof pitchers. Senior
Ed Zakrzewski (Three Bridges, NJ/Hunterdon Central) led off the inning with an infield single. Freshman
Anthony Cocuzza (Absecon, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) followed with a double. He went to third on a throwing error and Zakrzewski scored. Sophomore
Joe Dispoto (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) produced an RBI-ground out bring home Cocuzza, but the rally fell short.

The Lions will look to bounce back tomorrow as they return home for an NJAC doubleheader on Saturday, squaring off against Rutgers-Newark at 11:30 at George Ackerman Park.
