Box Score
Madison, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's soccer team dropped its season opener to Drew University 2-1 at the Drew Fall Festival on Friday night.

The Lions (0-1) fell behind 2-0 on a goal in the 37th minute, and a second tally early in the second period. TCNJ made a charge late in the game as senior Kevin Shaw (Brookside, NJ/West Morris Mendham) fired a shot from long distance that found the back of the net with under nine minutes to play. The Rangers were able to hold to their one-goal advantage, however, as goalkeeper Rich Boland finished with five saves in the victory.

Shaw, who led the team with four winners in 2011, had five shots in the game. Sophomore Ryan Sullivan (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata) and freshman Tokio Nakamoto (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) each had a pair shots in the contest.

TCNJ senior goalkeeper Matt Fredrick (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) stopped five shots in the loss. Mike Jacques and Matthew Gragnano tallied the goals for Drew.

The Lions are back in action tomorrow in their final game of the tourney as they take on Western Connecticut State University at 3 p.m. The Colonias fell to Arcadia University 3-0 earlier in the day. TCNJ will play its home opener on Wednesday, September 5th against Berkley College at 7:30 p.m. in Lions' Stadium.
