Ewing, NJ … A pair of second half goals lifted The College of New Jersey men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Kean University on Homecoming Day at TCNJ's Soccer Complex. The New Jersey Athletic Conference victory puts the Lions (9-5-2-, 4-2-1 NJAC) in solid position to qualify for the conference championship tournament.

A goal by senior Sean Casey (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) with 23:37 remaining broke a scoreless tie and turned out to be the game-winner. Sophomore Greg Perri, Jr. (Florence, NJ/Florence) added an insurance goal 11 minutes later as TCNJ rewarded the final regular season home game for seniors with a shutout victory.

Senior Aaron Utman (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley), who made an inspired return from injury, made three saves to register his seventh win and second shutout of the season.

TCNJ pounded away at the nets in the first half but came away empty. They controlled play and held a 9-3 advantage in shots at the intermission. They continued to dominate in the second period, and finally broke through in the 67th minute. Casey broke through in transition and put away a low shot for his first goal of the year.

Perri put the icing on the cake when he knocked in a loose ball to tally his fifth score of the season. TCNJ held a tremendous advantage in shots in the game 25-9. Tyler Callahan had seven saves for Kean.

Six seniors suited up for their final regular season home game at TCNJ. Utman, Casey, Kevin Shaw, Tyler Higgins, Daniel Durnian, and Dan Lyons were honored at halftime on Senior Day.

TCNJ has two final NJAC games on the road. They take a break this week before visiting New Jersey City University next Saturday at 2 p.m. The finish off their regular season schedule at Rowan on October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
