Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's soccer team scored a season-high seven times as the Lions collected their fourth conference win by blanking Rutgers-Newark 7-0 on Saturday.

The 17
th-ranked Lions picked up their 10
th win of the season, improving to 10-1 and are 4-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action. The loss dropped the Scarlet Raiders to 3-7-1 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The Lions dominated play throughout and nearly opened the scoring 13 minutes into the contest as
Brianna Cummings (Belmar, NJ/Ocean County) drilled the cross bar with a shot.

TCNJ eventually got that initial goal with 17:18 left in the half when
Lauren Malajian (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley) sent a cross into the Rutgers-Newark penalty area that
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) leapt up and headed in.

Levering then turned playmaker on the second goal, setting up
Justine Larocca (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) for a goal bumping the lead to 2-0. That goal came with 7:37 left in the half.

The Lions added one more goal before the end of the period as Levering knocked down a Scarlet Raider clearing attempt and quickly laced a shot off the far post and in for her second goal of the game.

In the second half, TCNJ scored four more times with freshman
Sarah Marion (Hightstown, NJ/The Peddie School) getting her first collegiate goal 17 minutes into the half.

Sophomore
Emma Culleton (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) picked up her first of the season converting on a penalty kick, while junior
Gina Caprara (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) tacked on two more goals in the final 16:37 to close out the scoring.

The Lions held a decisive 35-4 edge in shots, with the best scoring chance for Rutgers-Newark coming in the second half when
Cristina Estremera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) got a free kick from 25-yards out. She got off a solid shot over a wall of TCNJ players, but keeper
Cristina Gacos (Sea Girt, NJ/Wall) made a nice save.

Gacos finished with two saves and combined on the shutout with
Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) and
Jessica Weeder (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon).

In goal for Rutgers-Newark,
Diana Aviles (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) made five saves.

TCNJ faces a huge test in their next game as second-ranked Johns Hopkins University visits Ewing on Wednesday, October 9 for a 7:30 p.m. start in Lions' Stadium. The Scarlet Raiders also play non-conference game on Wednesday, returning home to face the Devils of FDU-Florham at 7:30 p.m.
