Clermont, FL... The College of New Jersey capped off its spring trip on a winning note as the Lions picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, beating both Plymouth State University and Trinity (CT) College.
TCNJ started the day with a 12-3 win over Plymouth State in five innings and then topped Trinity 8-1 in the finale. The Lions finished their trip with a solid 9-3 record.
TCNJ has another busy week ahead with three double headers on the slate. The team travels to Ursinus College on Wednesday, March 20, before its inaugural game at Dr. June Walker Field the following day against Muhlenberg College. The Lions cap off the week with another twin bill on Saturday, this time hosting SUNY Cortland.

Once again the Lions came through with a big inning scoring eight times in the fifth inning, breaking open a 4-2 game at the time.
Hommen had a banner day at the plate going 4-for-4, while senior
Liz Huttner (Princeton Junction, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) had two hits and drove in three runs.
Freshman
Nicole Hroncich (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) improved to 3-0 in the pitching circle, striking out four in the five innings.
TCNJ 8, Trinity College 1
The Lions closed out the trip with another win as
Ashtin Helmer (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) became the second freshman pitcher of the day to pick up her third victory. She tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts allowing just one run on six hits.
The Lions exploded for eight runs in the first as they sent 13 batters to the plate. TCNJ was aided by two errors by the Bantams, but junior
Kristen Lake (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and freshman
Brianna Cetrulo (Cedar Knolls, NJ/Whippany Park) each had RBI singles.
Seniors
Ashley Sogluizzo (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) and
Michelle Casale (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) each reached base twice with a base hit and walk.
