Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

TCNJ dominates NJCU in 6-0 in win

Jersey City, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer team netted a pair of goals in the opening 10 minutes of the game and cruised from that point for a 6-0 win at New Jersey City University on Saturday.

The win put the 17th-rankeed Lions at 10-2 and 4-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play. The loss kept the Gothic Knights winless in league play at 0-5 and they are 3-6-2 overall.

TCNJ carried play throughout as they fired 41 shots at NJCU's net, while the defense didn't allow any type of shot.

Freshman Jessica Goldman (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) opened the scoring 4:43 into the game with an assist from sophomore Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville), while freshman Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) doubled that margin just 1:26 later. That goal came on an assist from Goldman.

Levering made it a 3-0 contest just over seven minutes later with her team-leading eighth of the season. That goal came on a feed from senior Korrie Harkins (Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic).

The final goal of the period came when junior Justine Larocca (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) chipped in with her fourth tally of the year.

In the second half, freshman Hannah Richman (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) scored with an assist from classmate Christina Stabile (Freehold, NJ/Freehold), while the final goal came off of the foot of Marissa Scognamiglio (Orangeburg, NY/Pearl River). Both of those goals came in the final 10 minutes.

Lion keeper Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) picked up her second shutout in the last three days as she did not need to make a save.

TCNJ resumes NJAC play on Wednesday, October 15 when they return home to take on Rutgers-Camden at 7:30 p.m.
