Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer team broke out for nine goals as the Lions posted a 9-0 win on homecoming against William Paterson University on Saturday.

The win put 16
th-ranked TCNJ at 7-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference standings with one game remaining. That game is set for Tuesday, October 28 when the Lions host rival Rowan University at 7:30 p.m. A win by TCNJ will earn them a bye in the opening round of the conference tournament.

The loss dropped the Pioneers to 4-10-3 on the year and 1-7 in the NJAC. William Paterson closes out its regular season on Wednesday, October 29 hosting New Jersey City University at 4 p.m.

The Lions broke through for a pair of goals in the opening 10 minutes to grab control of the game. Freshman
Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) netted the opening goal 5:44 into the contest putting a shot into the near corner of the William Paterson net with an assist from sophomore
Sarah Marion (Hightstown, NJ/The Peddie School).

That lead doubled when senior
Korrie Harkins (Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) capped off a nice passing sequence from Thoresen and freshman
Jessica Goldman (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery). That goal came 3:30 after TCNJ's initial score.

The Lions added two more goals before the end of the half with Goldman scoring from junior
Brianna Cummings (Belmar, NJ/Ocean County), while sophomore defender
Brianna Petro (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) made it 4-0. That goal was the first goal of Petro's career.

Harkins kept the Lions rolling in the second half with two goals in the first, with the first coming 1:55 into the period. She completed the hat trick nine minutes later with an assist on that goal going to Marion.

Goldman added her second of the game with 32:35 left in the contest, while senior
Gina Caprara (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) increased the margin to 8-0 with 15:08 left in the game.

Freshman
Hannah Richman (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) closed out the scoring taking advantage of a penalty kick with 6:11 left.

Lion keeper
Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) stopped the only shot she faced to record her fifth consecutive shutout.
