Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer team wrapped up a bye in the opening round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament as the Lions picked up a 2-0 victory over rival Rowan University on Tuesday in the season finale.

The win put 13
th-ranked TCNJ at the top of the conference standings with 24 points, while Montclair State University is second with 22. The Red Hawks have also earned a bye, but they play their final game of the regular season with the rest of the conference schools tomorrow.

TCNJ will host a semifinal contest on Wednesday, November 5 against an opponent to be determined by the results from Saturday's opening round of the tournament.

The Lions have won six straight games to move to 14-2 on the season and finish conference play at 8-1. The loss dropped the Profs to 6-2-1 in the league and 11-5-1 overall. Rowan will host a NJAC Tournament this weekend.

Prior to the game, the Lions held a brief ceremony to recognize the careers of six seniors who have been instrumental in the continued success of the program. Honored were
Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West),
Korrie Harkins (Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic),
Tara Fisher (Glenwood, NJ/Pope John XXIII),
Lori Genovesi (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley),
Jordan Downs (Brick, NJ/Brick) and
Gina Caprara (New Providence, NJ/New Providence).

The Lions used a pair of quick goals late in the opening half to grab the lead with the first coming with 12:54 left in the period. Harkins settled a pass from sophomore
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) and put a low shot inside the near post for a 1-0 lead. That goal marked the third straight game Harkins has scored and in that span has five.

It only took 1:44 to double that lead when Levering touched a loose ball into the Rowan net for a 2-0 lead. That tally came with 11:10 showing on the clock.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final 45 minutes as the Lions secured the win.

Griffith made five saves as she reeled off her sixth straight shutout and 12
th of the season. Griffith's current scoreless streak stands at 551:40.
