Frostburg, MD ….. Taking on New Jersey Athletic Conference newcomer Frostburg State University, The College of New Jersey football team fell behind early and were never able to get back within striking distance as the Bobcats posted a 19-6 win on their home field on Saturday.

The loss kept the Lions searching for their first win as they fell to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the NJAC. With the win, Frostburg improved to 4-1 in the conference and 5-1 overall.

The Bobcats accounted for all nine points in the opening half with a field goal and then a touchdown with 26 seconds left before the break. Both of those scores came in the second quarter.

Frostburg added a touchdown in both the third and fourth quarters before the Lions got onto the scoreboard.

TCNJ's touchdown came when quarterback
Michael Marchesano (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) scored on a six-yard run. That touchdown, which came with 6:06 left in the game, was his first of the season.

Through the air, Marchesano was a steady 16-for-28 and 161 yards. Senior
Max Boerstoel (Boonton, NJ/Mountain Lakes) was his favorite target as he reeled in six catches for 74 yards.

On the ground, senior
Victor Scalici (Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck) average a solid 4.7 yards per carry as he had 66 yards on 14 attempts.

Sophomore
Shane Kelley (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had a huge game on the defensive side of the ball for the Lions with 10 tackles. Freshman
Jesse Streb (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) finished with five solo tackles and added an interception.

Up next for the Lions is it annual homecoming game next Saturday when they host long-time rival Montclair State University at 1 p.m.
