Game Recap: Lacrosse |

TCNJ cruises to shutout win

Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team posted an 18-0 shutout over visiting Manhattanville College on Tuesday as the Lions won for the third straight game.

The 13th-ranked Lions are now 6-2 on the season, while the Valiants are 3-4.

TCNJ took control right from the beginning scoring all 13 goals in the opening period with the first of those coming 1:25 into the game. That goal was scored by senior Kendal Borup (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) with an assist from classmate Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan).

The Lions netted 10 goals in the first 10:04 and the only thing that slowed the attack was lightning delay with 1:28 left in the half. TCNJ led 13-0 at that point and when play resumed they carried that lead to halftime.

In the second half, the Lions controlled territorial play and added five more goals.

Borup led TCNJ with five goals and two assists, while junior Cortney Natalicchio (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) scored four times and added an assist. Senior Ava Fitzgerald (Merrick, NY/Calhoun) tacked on three goals and one assist. Freshman Amanda Muller (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) enjoyed a big game with a goal and four assists, with classmate Kelsey Aeberli (Wariwck, NJ/Warwick Valley) getting her first collegiate goal.

Junior midfielder Megan Devlin (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) was a force on draw controls, finishing with a game-high seven.

Sophomore goalie Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) and freshman Christina Fabiano (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) each played a half in goal to share the shutout.

TCNJ returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday, April 4 when they host Ramapo College at 1 p.m.
