Lions erase early deficit to drop NYU, 3-1

Newark, NJ... The College of New Jersey men's soccer team continued its stellar start of the season as the Lions scored the game's final three goals to garner a 3-1 win over New York University on the final day of the Rutgers-Newark Classic.
 
The win put the Lions at 5-0-1 on the season.
 
After TCNJ fell behind by a goal, junior Nick Costelloe (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) took advantage of a penalty kick midway through the opening period. That was his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
 
The Lions took their first lead of the game 5:57 into the second frame when junior Thomas Hogue (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic) tallied on an assist from freshman Nick Sample (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt).
 
Junior midfielder Clayton Flon (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) closed out the scoring with an even seven minutes remaining.
 
Junior Jake Nesteruk (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) secured the win by recording four saves.
 
TCNJ is back on the field on Wednesday, September 16 heading to FDU-Florham to face the Devils at 3:30 p.m.
