Newark, NJ... Rutgers-Newark's Isaiah Kuris scored with three seconds remaining in regulation to help the Scarlet Raiders hold off The College of New Jersey men's soccer team 3-2 on Saturday night.
Â
That goal came just over two minutes after the Lions had tied the game.
Â
The loss was the first of the season for 18
th-ranked TCNJ as they fell to 5-1-2 overall and 0-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Rutgers-Newark has won six straight games and are 7-2 and 1-0 in conference play.
Â
The Scarlet Raiders led 1-0 at the half, but the Lions knotted things up midway through the period. Freshmen

Nick Sample (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) teamed up for a goal 20:02 into the period. Provenzano picked up his first collegiate goal with an assist from Sample.
Â
The game didn't stay tied long as Rutgers-Newark forged back ahead with a goal 1:35 later.
Â
TCNJ's
Thomas Hogue (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic) scored with 2:21 left to tie the game at 2-2 as it appeared the Lions were headed to overtime. Just like the first goal, this was assisted by Sample as well.
Â
The Scarlet Raiders then avoided overtime with the late goal to keep their winning streak en tact.
Â
Junior
Jake Nesteruk (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) made four saves.
