Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Three goals in second half sparks TCNJ

Madison, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer team remained unbeaten as the Lions scored three times in the second half to break open a scoreless game as they came away with a 3-0 victory at FDU-Florham on Tuesday.

The win put the 20th-ranked Lions at 5-0-2 and the Devils saw their record squared away at 4-4.

After a scoreless opening half, the Lions racked up three goals in 13:04 to pull away. Sophomore Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) netted the first of those two goals with the game's initial score coming 24:28 into the period. That goal was assisted by junior Lauren Malajian (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley). Thoresen struck again 2:23 later to double TCNJ's lead with an assist from senior Brianna Cummings (Belmar, NJ/Ocean County).

Malajian then added another insurance goal with 7:28 left in regulation to seal the win for the Lions. That goal was assisted by freshman Marykate Sullivan (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East).

Senior keeper Jessica Weeder (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) recorded the shutout without facing a shot.

The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic play on Saturday, September 26 when they head to Kean University for a 1 p.m. start with Cougars.
