Chester, PA... Junior Taylor Lusardi (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) broke a scoreless tie early in the second half as The College of New Jersey women's soccer team secured its first win of the young season with a 2-0 triumph at Widener University on Sunday.
 
The win put the Lions at 1-0-1 on the season, while the Pride dipped to 0-2-1.
 
Lusardi's goal came 5:37 into the second half as she headed in a corner kick taken by classmate Brianna Petro (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).
 
TCNJ added an insurance goal with 3:15 left in regulation when junior Sarah Marion (Hightstown, NJ/The Peddie School) picked up her first of the year on a rebound.
 
For the second straight game, senior Jessica Weeder (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) posted a shutout as she stopped the only two shots on goal she faced.
 
The visitors carried play throughout the came as the held a decisive 23-2 edge in shots and took all nine corner kicks.
 
The Lions are idle until this weekend when the host TCNJ's Classic where they will face SUNY Oneonta on Saturday and then Johns Hopkins University on Sunday.
