Newark, N.J. … The College of New Jersey women's soccer team traveled to Rutgers-Newark University tonight and earned a 3-0 victory. The Lions now have an overall record of 8-0-1 and 4-0-0 in the NJAC.

TCNJ took the early 1-0 lead when
Jessica Goldman (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) converted on a penalty kick 18 minutes into the game.

The Lion's increased the lead to 2-0 ten minutes into the second half with a goal from
Lauren Malajian (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley).
Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) crossed the ball to Malajian who was at the top of the box. She shot high and the ball hit the crossbar then went down into the net.

With ten minutes remaining in the game,
Hannah Richman (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor) made the score 3-0. She took a shot from 35 yards out and was able to sneak the ball past the keeper into the lower left hand side.

Jessica Weeder (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) got the start in net for TCNJ and registered her fifth shutout of the season.

TCNJ is back on the pitch on Wednesday, October 5 when they travel to Gettysburg College. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
