Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Goal by Hogue in OT lifts Lions to 2-1 win

Ewing, NJ … Senior Thomas Hogue (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic) scored four minutes and 27 seconds into the first overtime to give The College of New Jersey men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Ramapo College on Saturday in the TCNJ Soccer Complex.

Hogue took a through ball delivered by sophomore Nick Provenzano (Sergeantsville, NJ/Hunterdon Central) from 35 yards. He ran onto the pass, took a touch, and ripped a low into the right corner to end the game with his sixth tally of the season. The exciting victory raises the Lions' season record to 7-5-1 and New Jersey Athletic Conference record to 3-2.

The loss drops the Roadrunners to 7-2-2 overall and 0-2-2 in the NJAC.

Hogue had a hand in the first goal for TCNJ that gave them an early 1-0 advantage. At 13:07 into the match, the senior midfielder found space on the left side and drilled a shot off the crossbar. The ball caromed back to the right side of the box and freshman Mateo Panizza (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) was there to volley a shot just inside the right post for his fifth goal of the season.

Ramapo tied it up at the 56:42 mark of the game. Trevor Albrecht worked in tight traffic inside the box and then found Justin Olaya with a short square pass. He pushed a one-timer into the left corner to knot the game at one apiece.

The Roadrunners put balls between the posts twice more in the second half. They scored off of a long restart and scramble in front of the net, but the ball was whistled dead due to a Ramapo foul prior to the shot. In the final seconds of regulation, Joseph Fala picked up a through ball and found the back of the net just before time expired. But off-sides was called and the goal was called back by the official.

Less than five minutes into the first overtime, Hogue put the game away to garner three conference points for TCNJ.
Sophomore goalkeeper Dan Walsh (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) finished with four saves in the game, including a spectacular diving stop off a restart from Mike McGlynn early in the first half.

TCNJ continues its NJAC regular season schedule on Wednesday when they host Stockton University at 7:30 p.m. in Lions Stadium.
