Ewing, N.J. … The College of New Jersey women's soccer team hosted Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham tonight in Lions Stadium and came away with a 3-0 win. Their overall record now stands at 4-0-1.
The Lions started out strong, taking a 1-0 lead within the first three minutes of play with a goal from senior
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville). Jessica Goldman (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) crossed the ball in front of the net and Levering one timed it past the goalie.
Levering tallied her second goal of the game eight minutes later to make the score 2-0 in favor of TCNJ. Sophomore
Arielle Curtis (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) earned the helper for her first point of the season.
TCNJ kept the offensive pressure constant throughout the first half, outshooting FDU-Florham 14-1.
Junior
Kayla Bertolino (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) made the score 3-0 with just under 14 minutes remaining in the second half. She found a loose ball in front of the net for her first goal of the season.
Jessica Weeder (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) got the start in net for the Lions and made one save during the contest.
TCNJ is back on the pitch on Sunday, September 24 when they welcome Widener College to the Soccer Complex for a 1 p.m. matchup.
