Salisbury, M.D. … The ninth-ranked College of New Jersey field hockey team traveled to fifth-ranked Salisbury University this afternoon and suffered a 3-1 loss.  The Lions now own an overall record of 4-3 overall.
Salisbury took the early lead on a goal from Emily Lemanski. The Sea Gulls extended their lead to 3-0 by halftime on goals from Catherine Sweeney and Abbey Shobe.
With 10 minutes remaining in the game, the Lions got on the board with a goal from senior
Lexi Smith (Florence, NJ/Florence Township).
Taylor Barrett (Neshanic Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) pushed the ball in on a corner and Smith was waiting on the left side to fire a shot past the goalie.
Kelly Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) got the start in net and made a total of two saves during the first half.
Christina Fabiano (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) entered the game in relief and recorded three saves.
The Lions are back in action on the road on Tuesday, September 27th against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
