Ewing, NJ … Junior Peter Dresch (Highland Park, NJ/St. Joseph) scored the first three goals of the game as The College of New Jersey posted a dominant 7-0 victory over New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon in the TCNJ Soccer Complex.

The Lions improved to 5-3-1 overall this season and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Gothic Knights suffered their second setback of the fall and fell to 8-2-1 overall.

Dresch opened the scoring with a goal off an assist from senior Nick Costelloe (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) just 13:29 into the game. Dresch found the back of the net again just over three minutes later, this time off of a field from sophomore Nick Sample (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt). It was Samples fifth assist of the season.

After the break, Dresch completed his hat trick on an unassisted to tally to stretch the Lions' lead to 3-0. The offensive floodgates opened up for TCNJ as they tacked on four more goals in the final 29 minutes of play. Sophomores Joerg Jauk (Lassnitzhoehe, Austria) and Aaron Conyer (Burlington, NJ/The George School) each tallied unassisted goals. Senior Thomas Hogue (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic) then capped the scoring with a pair of goals, both coming off feeds from junior Michael Kassak (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown).

Sophomore Dan Walsh (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) made two saves in net and combined with freshman Alan Miller (Westwood, NJ/Westwood) for the shutout.

TCNJ takes on another conference opponent on Wednesday night when they visit Rutgers University-Camden for a 7 p.m. match. They return to the TCNJ Soccer Complex next Saturday when they host Rutgers-Newark at 1 p.m.
