Camden, NJ…The College of New Jersey men's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Rutgers University – Camden 73-64 Wednesday night.
The Scarlet Raptors came out hot to open the game, knocking down four triples in the game's opening eight minutes to establish an early 14-11 lead. The Lions met the early adversity head on, using back-to-back three-pointers from 
Kevin Bloodgood (Oceanport, NJ / Shore Regional) and 
Eric Murdock, Jr. (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater) to knot up the score at 21-21. Murdock, Jr. was one of four Lions in double figures with 11 points, to go along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Just under 10 minutes into the game, 
Bobby Brackett (Lawrenceville, NJ / Lawrence) connected on a lay-up to score his 1,000
th career point. Brackett closed out the game with 10 points and a team high seven rebounds. Brackett became just the 23rd player in program history to reach 1,000 points and he accomplished the milestone in under three seasons.
The teams battled with neither able to take control, and Bloodgood's third three-pointer of the half knotted the score at 35-35 to close out the first half. Bloodgood scored all nine of his points in the opening frame.
Rutgers-Camden came out on fire again in the second half, securing a 48-39 lead five minutes into the second half. The Lions responded with a 17-0 run to take control of the game, with 
Eric Klacik (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge) scoring a triple and a lay-up to book end the rally. Klacick finished with 11 points.
Overall for the Lions, seven different players finished with between eight and eleven points. 
Corey Stanford (Pittsburgh, PA / Penn Trafford) finished with 10 points. 
Jordan Glover (Lawrenceville, NJ / Lawrence) and 
Elias Bermudez (Westwood, NJ / Westwood) each finished with eight.
The Scarlet Raptors had three players in double figures, led by Shafeek Taylor's 16 points. Sean Taylor cleaned up a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Lions out-rebounded the Scarlet Raptors 39-31.
TCNJ continues their road trip as they now visit Kean University on Saturday, January 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
