Union, NJ… The College of New Jersey lacrosse team ended its regular season in style, scoring a season-high 19 goals in a 19-6 victory over Kean University Saturday afternoon. Number one ranked TCNJ enters the New Jersey Athletic Conference tournament on a nine game winning streak with a 13-1 overall record and 6-0 conference record. The Cougars end the regular season with a 10-7 record and 3-3 record in league play.
The Lions got on the board first for the 13
th time in 14 games this season.
Amanda Muller (Hillsborough, NJ / Hillsborough) put the ball in the back of the net to put the Lions in front. Muller finished the game with four goals and an assist. After the Cougars tied the game,
Alexandria Fitzpatrick (Burlington, NJ / Northern Burlington) scored the first of her four goals to give TCNJ a lead they would not relinquish.
Mia Blackman (Arlington, VA / Field School) scored with 25:13 remaining in the first half, the 89
th goal of her career, which combined with her 11 career assists pushed Blackman across the 100 career point milestone.
Olivia Cleale (Yardley, PA/ Notre Dame (NJ)) scored for the third straight game to push the Lions lead to 4-1.
Allie Gorman (Sicklerville, NJ / Washington Twp.) and
Kathleen Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, NJ / Hunterdon Central) also got into the scoring column as TCNJ carried a 14-4 advantage in to the half.
Blackman took over the game in the second half scoring three goals as part of a 5-0 run to open the second stanza. Blackman tied a career-high with five goals in the game leaving her with 93 in her storied career.
Brittany Ballack and Morgan Graham each score in the final three minutes for Kean to produce the final score.
Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT / Stonington) finished one off a season-high with eight draw controls.
TCNJ out shot Kean 33-11.
The Lions will host a semi-final game in the NJAC Tournament on Wednesday, May 3. The game will begin at 7:00 pm against an opponent that has yet to be determined.
