Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fifth-Ranked Lions Open NJAC Play With Win

Ewing, NJ… The fifth-ranked TCNJ Women's Soccer team continued their quick start to the season Saturday night, defeating William Paterson University 4-0 to begin New Jersey Athletic Conference play. The Lions now sit at 1-0 in the NJAC and 5-0 overall. The Pioneers dropped to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

The Lions scored the game's opening goal when Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) found Kayla Bertolino (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) who found the back of the net for the second time this season.

Less than two minutes later Elizabeth Thoresen (Colt's Neck, NJ / Red Bank Catholic) ripped a shot that hit the underside of the crossbar and went over the line for a 2-0 advantage.

Hannah Richman (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor) put the Lions up 3-0 going into the half, scoring her third of the season off an assist from Despina Lianidis (Linwood, NJ/Mainland Regional).

Freshman Caroline Rubin (Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) scored her first career goal in the game's final ten minutes to produce the final score.

Nicole DiPasquale (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) earned her fourth solo and fifth total shutout of the season.

TCNJ is back in action Tuesday, when the Lions travel to Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Campus. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
