Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's soccer team continued their winning streak to begin the 2017 season with a 4-0 win Saturday afternoon over Rutgers-Newark. The win pushes the third-ranked Lions record to 9-0 this season and they sit at 4-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference competition. The team is currently riding an 11-game unbeaten streak dating back to last year. The Scarlet Raiders fall to 8-4 with the loss and their conference record evens to 2-2.

The Lions got on the board early with senior
Jessica Goldman (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) finding fellow senior
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) in the fourth minute to put TCNJ in front. The assist was the 22
nd in Goldman's career moving her into a tie for eighth in TCNJ history.

With just over 15 minutes remaining in the first half, senior
Hannah Richman (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor) played a perfect through ball to sophomore
Despina Lianidis (Linwood, NJ/Mainland Regional) that Lianidis pushed past the Scarlet Raider goalie from the top of the box to double the lead.

Ally DeRiggi (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) received a short pass off of a free kick and took a shot while falling to the ground. The ball floated over the out-stretched arm of the keeper to give TCNJ a three-goal lead going into halftime. It was DeRiggi's first goal as a Lion.

Coming out of the break it was Levering who made assault on the TCNJ record book. She scored her second goal of the game, giving her 133 career points passing Traci Tapp for second most in Lions history. She now stands just four points shy of Dana DiBruno's all-time record. Levering is behind just Tapp and DiBruno on the Lions career goals list.

Nicole DiPasquale (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) made a single save in picking up her sixth individual shutout of the season. TCNJ is the only team in Division III not to allow a goal this season.

TCNJ will get a non-conference test Wednesday night at 7:30 PM against Gettysburg College. The game is part of a double-header with the men's team, who play at 3:30 PM.
