Springfield, MA… The College of New Jersey wrestling team took eight of ten bouts on their way to a 27-9 victory over Springfield College Friday night. The 19
th-ranked Lions improved to 10-4 with the win, while the Pride dropped to 8-7.
Dan Ortega (North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) got the Lions out to an early lead via an 8-2 decision.
James Goldschmidt (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) continued the momentum with a 6-2 win at 133.
Robert Dinger (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) earned a bonus point for a 16-4 major decision that put TCNJ up 10-0.
After a Pride victory at 149,
Dominic Fano (Montville, NJ/Montville Township) got the Lions back on track, recording a 4-2 win at 157. JT Bierne (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains Fanwood) earned a narrow 5-4 decision at 164.
Dan Kilroy (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) was the second Lion to record bonus points, getting a tech. fall after jumping out to an 18-0 lead in the bout.
Thomas Anderson (Middletown, NJ/Middletown North) produced a 7-0 shutout victory at 184 and
Pat Schinder (Forked River, NJ/Lacey) earned a 3-1 decision.
The Pride earned a pin at heavyweight to produce the final score.
The Lions return to action Saturday at 12:00 PM for the Metro/New England Duals hosted by Bridgewater State University.
