POMONA, N.J. – On Wednesday night the 6
th ranked College of New Jersey women's soccer team pushed their winning streak to eight games with a 3-0 win over Stockton University. The Lions improve to 10-1 on the season including an unblemished 6-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Ospreys drop to 9-3-3 and 3-2-1 in the conference on the season.
The Lions struck first in the 37
th minute when
Amelia Curtis scored her first collegiate goal. Curtis controlled her own rebound off of a blocked shot and punched it in to put the Lions up 1-0. The Lions controlled the first half as they held a 7-0 advantage in shots and a 3-0 lead in corners in the opening stanza.
Lauren McLaughlin pushed the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 59
th minute. McLaughlin had an opening from the middle of the box and converted for her second goal of the year.
Taylor Nolan added an insurance goal in the 72
nd minute to make it 3-0 TCNJ, a lead they would not relinquish. The goal marked the fifth on the campaign for Nolan.
The Lions held a 15-1 advantage in shots on goal on the game. In net was
Nicole DiPasquale who earned her sixth shutout of the season.
Next up for the Lions is another NJAC game, this time at New Jersey City University on Oct. 13 at 3:00 p.m.
