CAMDEN N.J. – The College of New Jersey men's soccer team was defeated by Rutgers-Camden in New Jersey Athletic Conference action by a final score of  3-1. TCNJ fell to 7-4 and 1-3 in the conference on the year while Rutgers-Camden improved to 8-3-1 and 3-1 in the NJAC.
The Scarlet Raptors scored first in the 10
th minute, then struck again twice before the first half ended.  The final goal came off of a scrum in front of the net in the 35th minute. 
Joerg Jauk took a shot that was denied by the Scarlet Raptor keeper with over five and a half minutes to play.
Daniel Mecadon tallied five saves in net for the Lions in the first half.
In the 75
th minute the Lions got on the board. 
Nick Sample set up Jauk off of a restart, and Jauk punched a header into the back of the net. The assist for Sample was the 20
th on his career, and that ties him with Russell Terlecki for fifth place all-time in program history. It was also his seventh helper of the season, and the goal marked the third on the campaign for Jauk.
Michael Kayal came on in relief at keeper and made four saves in the second half.
The Lions will return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 6, when they will have another road conference test. This time they will square off against Kean University at 4:00 p.m.
