EWING, N.J. –The College of New Jersey men's swimming & diving team defeated conference opponent Montclair State University in the 2018-19 season opener by a final score of 162-112. The win was the first for TCNJ first year head coach
David Dow.
The Lions' 200-medley relay team took first place. The squad of
Derek Kneisel,
Andrew Duff,
Andrew Thompson, and
Harrison Yi swam to a time of 1:38.
Yi doubled up for a successful day, as he won the 1000-free with a time of 10:15.
Griffin Morgan won three events. He placed first in the 200-free at 1:46, first in the 100-free with a time of 48.98, and topped the field in the 200-IM with a mark 1:59.
Kneisel also placed first in the 100-back with a time of 54.10, as well as the 100-fly with a mark of 54.50. Thompson won the 200-fly as he clocked in at 1:59, and
Sam Maquet was right behind with a time of 2:01. Thompson was additionally first in the 200-back with a time of 1:59.
Winning the 50 free was
John Gregory with a time of 22.75.
Next up for TCNJ is another NJAC meet, this time at Ramapo College on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2:00 p.m.
