Senior Insert

EWING, N.J. –
The College of New Jersey field hockey team jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead on their way to a 4-1 homecoming victory Saturday night. The fifth-ranked Lions closed out the regular season at 13-3 and 4-2 in the NJAC. The Ospreys fell to 12-5 and 3-3 in conference play.

Tori Tiefenthaler put the Lions on the board just under five minutes into the game, scoring off a corner after deflecting a shot by Sidney Padilla. Tori Hannah would extend the lead with a blast on another corner, drawing assists from Padilla and Tiefenthaler. Tiefenthaler would provide the halftime lead punching in a rebound opportunity in the 27th minute.

Just over six minutes into the second half, Samantha Reed would drive down the right side and fire a centering pass that found the stick of Cayla Andrews. Andrews calmly placed the ball into the cage for her 16th of the season and 41st of her career, moving her into a tie for 19th place in program history.

Stockton would respond with a goal by Kassidy Wentzell, but get no closer as TCNJ clamped down over the final ten minutes.

TCNJ held an overwhelming 16-3 shot advantage.

Prior to the game, the team honored its two graduating members, Padilla and Jackie Schwartz.

The Lions will now look ahead to the NJAC Tournament, where they will travel to Montclair State Wednesday night.
