No. 5 Field Hockey Falls in NJAC Championship Game

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team fell just short in its bid to win a fifth consecutive conference title, falling 2-0 to Rowan University in the NJAC Championship Game. The fifth-ranked Lions dropped to 14-4 on the season, while the third-ranked Profs improved to 20-0.

Rowan got on the board just under 15 minutes into the game when Molly Gorczyca chopped a bouncing ball into the cage. The Profs would complete the scoring midway through the second half on a goal by Rachel Galante.

The Lions best chance came with 11 minutes remaining as Samantha Reed made a free run down the right side, but her shot was saved by Morgan Novak.

The Lions were out-shot 15-11 in the game. Reed and Tori Tiefenthaler each recorded three shots to lead TCNJ.

Madison Beaumont made four saves in net for TCNJ.

The Lions will now await the NCAA Selection Show which will be aired on NCAA.com tomorrow night.
