GLASSBORO, N.J. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team fell just short in its bid to win a fifth consecutive conference title, falling 2-0 to Rowan University in the NJAC Championship Game. The fifth-ranked Lions dropped to 14-4 on the season, while the third-ranked Profs improved to 20-0.
Â
Rowan got on the board just under 15 minutes into the game when Molly Gorczyca chopped a bouncing ball into the cage. The Profs would complete the scoring midway through the second half on a goal by Rachel Galante.
Â
The Lions best chance came with 11 minutes remaining as
Samantha Reed made a free run down the right side, but her shot was saved by Morgan Novak.
Â
The Lions were out-shot 15-11 in the game. Reed and
Tori Tiefenthaler each recorded three shots to lead TCNJ.
Â
Madison Beaumont made four saves in net for TCNJ.
Â
The Lions will now await the NCAA Selection Show which will be aired on NCAA.com tomorrow night.
