Osceola, FL… The College of New Jersey softball team split a pair of crazy games on the Lions penultimate competition day from the Sunkissed games. The Lions defeated Washington College (MD) 11-3 before falling to McDaniel College 16-8. The Lions now own a season mark of 9-3.

In the first game, the Shorewomen struck first scoring a pair of runs on a double by Chrissy Segrest. The hit delivered the first two RBIs of her collegiate career.

TCNJ evened the score in the top of the third. With runners on second and third
Annalise Suitovsky (Warren Twp., NJ/Watchung Hills) singled home a run, followed by an RBI ground out from
Megan Mayernik (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington).

In the top of the fourth, the Lions exploded for their fifth inning scoring five or more runs this season.
Gaby Bennett (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored
Helena Coppola (Lincroft, NJ/St. John Vianney) with a single. Two batters later, Suitovsky hit a bases-loaded double to score two. With the bases again loaded,
Madison Levine (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) hit a two-run single. Bennett, Suitovsky, and Levine are all tied with a team-high 12 RBIs.

The Lions tacked on a run in the fifth on a Suitovsky walk, then
Katie Winchock (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) and
Allie Immerso (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) scored on a failed pickoff attempt in the sixth.

The Shorewomen got a run back in the bottom of the sixth and TCNJ scored in the top of the seventh to produce the final score.

After the rough first inning, Kristen Barerra (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) settled in allowing just one hit over the next four innings to earn her second win of the year.

The Lions fell behind early in game two as the Green Terror got a three-run homer from Tori Wilkins in the top of the first.

The Lions would even the score on the first collegiate home run from
Lauren Conroy, a three run shot to left. TCNJ was not done scoring in the first, getting a pair of runners on for
Danielle Carey, who delivered an RBI knock into center field. Immerso slapped a base hit that gave TCNJ a 5-3 lead after one inning.

After each side scored a run in the second, the Lions tacked on two more in the third courtesy of a Bennett double.

In the sixth the floodgates opened for the Green Terror. 17 batters came to the plate, seven delivered hits, and 12 would come across to score as McDaniel went from trailing to ending the game via run rule.

The Lions have a day off tomorrow before closing out the trip with a pair of games Friday.
