Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey men's tennis team suffered a 7-2 setback at the hands of Stevens Institute of Technology Wednesday afternoon. The Lions fell to 6-5 on the year, while the Ducks improved to 8-9.

TCNJ took a 2-1 lead in doubles with an 8-6 win by
Matt Puig (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) and
Thomas Wright (Upper Saddle River, NJ/Upper Saddle River).
Tim Gavornik (Millington, NJ/Watchung Hills) and
Omar Bokhari (Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) combined for an 8-1 victory.

The Lions struggled in singles play as the Ducks took all six matches and the overall victory. Gavornik and Wright each put up solid efforts fighting to third sets, but were unable to pull out wins.

The Lions return to action Saturday when the host the University of Mary Washington at 1:00 PM.
