Ewing, NJ…
The College of New Jersey baseball team defeated William Paterson University on Sunday in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game by a final score of 12-2. The Lions conclude the regular season with a record of 27-7 including 14-4 in NJAC play, while the Pioneers finish at 23-14 and 9-9 in the conference.

The Lions put two runs up in the 1st inning. Zachary Shindler (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) ripped an RBI triple to right center field. That triple was the 15th of his career, which ties the program record. The Lions added another run by scoring on an error to make it 2-0.

In the second frame, TCNJ took control of the game with five runs. Ryan Fischer (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) began the scoring with a two run shot to left field, his third home run of the year. A few batters later, Austin Lindsay (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) drove in two with a double down the left field line. Tommy McCarthy (Allentown, NJ/Allentown) drove in Linsday with a base hit up the middle.

Andrew Rowan (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was the winning pitcher, and went four innings allowing no earned runs on three hits. Joseph Felipe (Manchester Twp., NJ) threw two shutout innings, and Josiah Gliddon (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) made his collegiate debut and worked a scoreless 9th inning.

The Lions clinched the regular season NJAC title, and the number one seed in the upcoming tournament. It will begin on Tuesday, May 1st.

Prior to the game the Lions held senior day, and their eight seniors were honored for all of their contributions to the program the last four years.
