Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey men's tennis team struggled Sunday afternoon, falling 6-3 to New York University. The Lions are now 6-3 on the season, while the Violets improve to 3-4.
The Lions got on the board with an 8-7 (7-5) doubles victory by
Mitchel Sanders (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and
Sean Reilly (Spring Lake, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy).
In singles play, the Lions won a pair of three set matches.
Matt Puig (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) gutted out a 6-3, 0-6, 7-5 win at second singles.
Tim Gavornik (Millington, NJ/Watchung Hills) got the win at fourth singles, victorious 5-7, 7-5, 10-8.
The Lions will return to action Sunday, April 15, when they travel to Salisbury University at 10:00 AM.
