Men's Tennis

TCNJ edged by Salisbury

Salisbury, MD… The College of New Jersey men's tennis team dropped a tight dual Sunday afternoon 5-4 to Salisbury University. The Lions fall to 6-4 on the season, while the Seagulls improve to 12-5.

Due to weather, the teams played singles matches first with each side scoring three victories. Mitchel Sanders (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and Tim Gavornik (Millington, NJ/Watchung Hills) each earned straight set victories at first and fourth singles, respectively.

Thomas Wright (Upper Saddle River, NJ/Upper Saddle River) took a three set victory at fifth singles.

In doubles, the teams split the first two matches completed. Gavornik and Omar Bokhari (Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) earned an 8-6 win at third doubles. The Seagulls would prevail 9-7 in a tiebreak at first singles to secure the victory.

The Lions return to action Wednesday, April 18 at 3:00 PM when they host Stevens Institute of Technology.
