Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey lacrosse head coach Sharon Pfluger reached another milestone in her storied career, earning her 1,100
th career victory between lacrosse and field hockey as the Lions earned a 13-2 victory over Kean University in the semi-finals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday night. The Lions are now 16-2 on the season, while the Cougars sit at 14-4.
Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT/Stonington) also continued to re-write the Lions record book. Her team-high five draw controls moved her into a tie for first in program history with 281 career draw controls. She also led TCNJ with five ground balls, giving her 308 for her career, already a program record and tied for the 11
th-most in NCAA Division III history.
The Lions started the game strong, building a 5-0 lead on a balanced attack.
Alexandria Fitzpatrick (Burlington, NJ/Northern Burlington),
Amanda Muller (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough), and
Kasey Donoghue (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each scored with
Kathleen Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) adding a pair.
The teams swapped a goal apiece to give the Lions a 6-1 advantage at the break.
TCNJ dominated the beginning of the second half. Jaeger completed her hat trick just under four minutes into the period, then
Olivia Cleale (Yardley, PA/Notre Dame (NJ)) bracketed a pair of assists to
Allie Gorman (Sicklerville, NJ/Washington Twp.) around a goal of her own. Cleale now has 80 assists in her Lions career placing her fifth in program history.
After a second Cougars goal, TCNJ got goals from Donoghue and team-leading 44
th and 45
th tallies on the season from Fitzpatrick.
Miranda Chrone (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) was solid in net all night, making four saves for the victory.
The Lions will host Rowan University, who defeated Montclair State University in the other semi-final, on Saturday at 1:00 PM in Lions Stadium.
