MAHWAH, N.J. – The 7
th ranked College of New Jersey women's soccer team picked up a victory over Ramapo College in a conference match on Saturday by a final score of 4-0. With the win the Lions improved to 5-1 on the year including 2-0 in the conference while the Roadrunners dropped to 2-6 and 1-1 in the NJAC.
The Lions struck first in the 17
th minute with a goal from
Taylor Nolan. The goal marked the second on the season for the junior midfielder. In the 36
th minute,
Despina Lianidis scored her first goal of the campaign to extend the Lions' advantage to 2-0. The Lions defensive unit controlled the game once again, as they did not allow a shot in the first half which translated to a 16-0 advantage for TCNJ.
In the second half the Lions continued to have the upper hand, and iced the game with two goals in the final minutes. Nolan punched in another off of an assist from
Alexa Pestritto in the 87
th minute, then a minute later
Ally Weaver found the back of the net off an assist from
Julia Obst to put the Lions up 4-0.
The Lions defensive unit continued to overpower opposing offenses, as they did not allow a shot which led to a 31-0 advantage. The Lions also had a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Lions will resume action on Wednesday, Sept. 26
th when they will take on Rutgers-Camden at home.
