Men's Soccer Defeats New Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The College of New Jersey men's soccer team defeated New Jersey City University on Saturday by a final score of 2-0. The Lions improved to 10-2-3 with the win including 2-1-3 in conference action, while the Gothic Knights dipped to 11-7 and 0-7 in the NJAC.

TCNJ scored first early in the 12th minute. Justin Dominique scored to put the Lions up top 1-0. He punched in a low right shot off of an assist from Ryan Santos for his fourth goal of the year. That score held throughout the first half. TCNJ had a 9-7 edge in shots in the opening period.

The Lions scored early in the second half as well. Kevin Esteves scored in the 54th minute to double the lead to 2-0. Luke Yates sent in a long throw in that bounced across the box and found Esteves, who tapped it in. The score was the fourth of the year for him.

The 2-0 lead proved to be more than enough for the TCNJ defense. Daniel Mecadon pitched the shutout in net, and recorded eight saves on the contest.

TCNJ returns to action at Stockton University on Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m
