MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team topped a conference rival in Montclair State 190 to 97 Saturday afternoon. The Lions improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC with the victory. The Red Hawks dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in conference meets.

Patrick Sullivan,
Derek Kneisel and
Patrick Bakey got the Lions off to a strong start, winning the 100-Medley Relay in 1:40.17.

Jimmy Keane and
Brett Clauhs kept the momentum going with a one-two finish in the 1,000-Free. The pair touched the wall in 10:17.76 and 10:37.31. Thompson and
Kai Michaud gave the Lions another one-two finish in the 200-Free with times of 1:47.22 and 1:48.77.

Kneisel easily won the 100-Back with a time of 53.76, five seconds ahead of the field. Sullivan would make it five straight events to start the match, going 1:01.88 in the 100-Breast.

After the Red Hawks won the 200-Fly to break up the streak, TCNJ responded by going one-two-three in the 50-Freee led by a 21.70 swim from Griff Morgan.

Jay Soukup and
Ethan Staiman swept the 1-Meter with scores of 257.3 and 171.4.

Morgan had a strong swim out of the break to win the 100-Free in 48.49. Kneisel followed with the only sub-two minute swim in the 200-back beating the field by over ten seconds with a time of 1:59.05.

The Red Hawks wrapped a pair of event wins around Michaud's winning 4:58.51 500-Free swim. Soukup and Staiman completed the 1-Meter Diving sweep with scores of 149.4 and 135.1.

Harrison Yi won the 200-IM in 1:59.58 to set up the victorious 400-Free Relay in the final event of the day. Sullivan, Thompson,
Nolan Kuscan, and Kneisel finished in 3:20.44.

The Lions return to action Friday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. when they host Southern Connecticut State.
