BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The College of New Jersey women's basketball team was topped by Moravian College on Tuesday evening by a final score of 68-54. TCNJ slipped to 2-2 on the young season, while the Greyhounds improved to 3-1 on the campaign.
The Greyhounds took a 20-10 lead at the start of the first quarter. The Lions were able to battle back, and went on 14-3 run to take a one point lead.
Rachel Gazzola knocked down a jumper with under nine minutes to go in the quarter.
After a
Shannon Devitt bucket, Gazzola sank back-to-back three-pointers to pull TCNJ within 23-20. Devitt hit a pair of free throws, then

Jen Byrne on a lay-up to put the Lions ahead. The Greyhounds were able to piece together a run to take a 35-26 lead heading into halftime.
Moravian was able to pace the third quarter, and built a 52-37 lead.
Morgan Heller and Gazzola each hit three-pointers at the end of the third quarter to pull TCNJ within 52-43. Devitt hit on a lay-up in the fourth to cut the deficit to seven, yet the Greyhounds did not let the Lions pull any closer the rest of the way.
Devitt led TCNJ with a double-double as she scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. She also came up with three blocks. Gazzola tallied 16 points with four rebounds and a pair of steals. Byrne scored eight points and grabbed seven boards.
The Lions return to action on Friday night against Hunter College at home.
