No. 22 Men's Swimming Opens NJAC Competition with Victory

EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey men's swimming team posted a big win to begin conference competition Saturday 170-91. The 22nd-ranked Lions improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC. The Roadrunners drop to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in NJAC competition.
 
The Lions got off to a strong start in the 200-Medley Relay. The team of Sean Rave, Andrew Duff, Andrew Thompson, and Nolan Kuscan topped the field with a time of 1:36.65. Derek Kneisel, Patrick Sullivan, Griffin Morgan, and Patrick Bakey placed second in 1:38.34.
 
TCNJ continued to dominate the competition in the 1,000-Free. TCNJ swept the event placing the top four, led by Harrison Yi who posted a time of 10:04.57. Morgan led the way in the 200-Free with a time of 1:45.27.
 
Thompson and Kneisel went one-two in the 100-Back. The pair swam 53.33 and 54.73. The Lions suffered a rare defeat in the 100-Breast. Sullivan finished second in 1:00.10.
 
Rave and Brian Tran led a four man sweep in the 200-Fly. Rave posted a time of 2:00.55. Kuscan, Kai Michaud, Dixon Kahler, and Yi went one through four in the 50-Free. All four finished sub 23 led by Kuscan in 22.26.
 
The Roadrunners battled back with a win in the 100-Free. Thompson completed his back sweep finishing the 200 in 1:56.63.
 
Ramapo had its strongest swim of the day in the 200-Breast, taking the top three spots.
 
Kahler and Morgan took the 500-Free and 100-Fly respectively to help put the met away.

In the diving well, Jay Soukup posted a regional qualifying score of 442.50 in the 3-meter.
 
The Lions return to action Nov. 16 when they travel to Montclair State.
