HOBOKEN, N.J. – In the consolation game of the Stevens Holiday Tournament, the TCNJ men's basketball team was clipped in a close game against Drew, 82-75.
The Lions jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game.
P.J. Ringel made a three-pointer to put TCNJ up 5-0.
Ryan Jensen scored from in close, then Ringel hit on a lay-up as well. Jensen would record five more points via a three ball and jumper to put the Lions up 10.
With just over five minutes to play in the half, the Rangers took a 24-23 lead, yet the Lions countered with a 15-6 spurt. A Jensen trifecta put the Lions back out in front, then
Randall Walko hit from downtown as well after a Drew bucket. Walko would strike from deep again, then a Jensen lay-up put the Lions up 38-30. TCNJ took a 38-32 lead heading into halftime.
The Lions took a 48-37 lead just over two minutes into the second half.
Mike Walley nailed a three-pointer, then a pair of Jensen free throws gave the Lions the 11 point advantage.

Tommy Egan lay-up with 12 minutes to play put TCNJ ahead 57-50, yet the Rangers began to chip away and take the momentum back in their favor. The Rangers took a 64-62 lead with seven minutes to play. Jensen cut the Drew lead to one with a three-pointer, then Walko hit from long range to tie the game up 68-68 with over five minutes to go. Ringel hit a jumper to cut it to 74-72, yet Drew did not allow TCNJ to get any closer than that.
Walko scored a team-high 24 points, and was locked in shooting. He went 9-of-13 overall, including a staggering 6-of-8 from three-point range. He also grabbed eight rebounds. Jensen scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Ringel added 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
Travis Jocelyn pitched in 11 points and seven rebounds.
Jensen was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts. He averaged 15 points and 4.5 rebounds per game the last two days.
TCNJ will return to action on the other side of the New Year. The Lions will face Wilkes University at home on Jan. 2.
