NFHCA Release
GILBERT, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released selections for Regional Players of the Year Thursday.
Kayla Peterson of The College of New Jersey was honored as South Atlantic Region Player of the Year. She becomes the first Lion to receive Regional POTY honors since Lexi Smith in 2016. The senior midfielder is now one of six athletes eligible to be named National Player of the Year next week.

Peterson capped off her career with an eight goal, 16 assist season in 2019. She ranked fourth nationally in assists per game. She completes her career ranked 10
th in career assists (32) in program history and her single season total is seventh-most ever by a Lion.

The Lions ended the 2019 season 18-1 and achieved the number one ranking in the NFHCA Poll for the first time since 2015. TCNJ captured its 29
th NJAC Championship in 2019 and fifth in the past six seasons.
