EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team won its spring season opener Saturday afternoon. The Lions (8-0) defeated Division II University of the Sciences (7-7) 7-2.

TCNJ swept doubles play with the newly formed team of
Liya Davidov and
Grace Minassian playing to an easy 8-1 victory at number one.
Alyssa Baldi and
Audrey Chen fought to an 8-5 victory at number two. At number three,
Sarah Phung and
Navya Yemula took an 8-4 win.

The Devils showed fight in singles play winning at one and four, but the Lions took straight set victories on each of the other courts. Baldi and Chen each dropped just three games in their respective wins.

The Lions have now won 69 of 72 contested matches this season.

TCNJ faces a national contender when it hosts 24
th-ranked Christopher Newport on Saturday, Feb. 23. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
