EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team saw its perfect season come to an end Saturday morning, falling 6-3 against New York University. The 23
rd-ranked Lions are now 12-1 on the season, while the 13
th-ranked Violets remain unbeaten at 6-0.
The upset-minded Lions seemed up to the task in doubles play.
Liya Davidov and
Katrine Luddy combined for an 8-4 win at number one.
Grace Minassian and
Alyssa Baldi followed with an 8-6 win at number two.
Sarah Phung and
Navya Yemula forced a tiebreak at number three, but ultimately dropped the match.
In singles play, NYU took control. The Violets won on every court except one. Davidov won a pair of tiebreaks in a three set victory.
The Lions return to action Friday, Mar. 22 for a neutral site match against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to take place in Fredericksburg, Va. Match time is set for 12 p.m.
