FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – For the first time in the 2018-19 season, The College of New Jersey men's tennis team found themselves on the wrong side of the ledger, falling to the University of Mary Washington 8-1 Saturday. The 30
th-ranked Lions are now 8-1 on the season, while the 13
th-ranked Eagles improved to 10-3 on the year.
The Eagles took all three doubles matches with the closest pair for the Lions being
Thomas Wright and
Mitchel Sanders falling 8-6 at number two.
Matt Puig scored the Lions lone point in singles play. The senior split the first two sets by identical 6-3 scores. Puig then took the super-breaker 10-6.
The Lions return to action when they play the first ever NJAC men's tennis match with a trip to Ramapo next Saturday, Mar. 30. The Match is set for 12 p.m.
