No. 28 Men's Tennis Sweeps First Ever NJAC Match

MAHWAH, N.J. – It was an historic day in Mahwah Saturday as The College of New Jersey defeated Ramapo College 9-0 in the first ever New Jersey Athletic Conference men's tennis match. The sport is being sponsored by the conference for the first time this season. The 28th-ranked Lions are 9-1 overall, while the Roadrunners dropped to 4-5 overall.

Matthew Michibata and Gokul Murugesan captured the NJAC's first team point with an 8-1 win at second doubles. The win kick-started a doubles sweep as Matt Puig and Andrew Mok won 8-2 at number three. Mitchel Sanders and Thomas Wright combined for an 8-4 victory at number one.

TCNJ carried the momentum into singles play. All six Lions won in straight sets, highlighted by Wright's 6-0, 6-0 victory at number five, which also clinched the team victory. Justin Wain dropped just a single game at number three. Nikola Kilibarda did not drop a game in the opening set at number six. He won the second set 6-2. Puig dropped just three games at number four. Sanders and Michibata each won a set 6-1 and the other 6-3 at number one and two respectively.
