HOPEWELL, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team entered the national rankings earlier this week and the Lions lived up to the ranking, defeating Salisbury University 7-2 Saturday afternoon. The 22
nd-ranked Lions improved to 11-0 this season, handing the now 3-1 Seagulls their first setback of the season.
The Lions dominated doubles play. At number one,
Liya Davidov and
Katrine Luddy did not drop a game winning 8-0. The teams of
Grace Minassian and
Alyssa Baldi as well as
Sarah Phung and
Navya Yemula each won by identical 8-3 scores.
Davidov again led the way in singles play. At number one, the freshman dropped just a single game winning 6-1, 6-0. Baldi, Yemula, and
Julia Yoon each won in straight sets as well.
The Lions return to action tomorrow morning with a match against 38
th-ranked Wellesley beginning at 11:30 a.m.
