EWING, N.J. – The No. 3/7 TCNJ baseball team rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to send Monday afternoon's non-conference game with Ursinus to extra innings, but the Bears scored twice in the top of the 11
th to win, 7-5.

The Lions (25-6) never led in the game, but the three runs in the final at-bat gave the team renewed hope.
Gary Otten doubled with one out in the ninth and TCNJ trailing, 5-2.
Matt Giacose singled up the middle to score Otten to make it 5-3.
Chris Reeder walked to put the tying run on base.
Joey Cruciata pinch ran for him, and he moved up, along with Giacose, on a wild pitch.

Grant Sible singled to left to score one run to pull the Lions to within 5-4, and
Danny Borup beat out a potential game-ending double play ball to allow Cruciata to score with the tying run.

In the top of the 11
th, Ursinus had runners at first and second when Otten made a sparkling play on a bunt down the third-base line. He barehanded and fired to first to nail Carter Usowski for the second out.

Dylan Crowley had a swing-and-miss at strike three to the following batter, Jerry Scavone, but the ball went to the backstop to allow Scavone to reach and to allow the go-ahead run to score from third. A single followed to bring home Ursinus' seventh run.

Ursinus (18-14) led, 3-0, after 1.5 innings thanks to a solo homer from Alex Mumme in the first and a two-run single from Dom Fiorentino in the second.

The Lions came back with two runs in the bottom of the third.
David Cardona III doubled home
Danny Borup to make it 3-1, and
Jacob Simon singled home Cardona to pull TCNJ to within 3-2. Ursinus added a run in the fifth and another in the top of the ninth, setting the stage for the Lions' comeback in the bottom half.

Matt Giacose went 3-for-4 with a walk, and Cardona was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Zac deRocco pitched effectively in middle relief. He allowed just a run on four hits without walking a batter through four innings.

The Lions stay out of the conference for a road game at Arcadia on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
