No. 17 Lacrosse Victorious on Senior Day

EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey lacrosse team got a six-goal effort from Kathleen Jaeger to defeat Kean University 14-5 on Senior Day. Jaeger and fellow seniors Abby Flagler, Erin Harvey, and Miranda Chrone were honored prior to their final regular season games.

"Our team is built on legacy," said Jaeger. "We're really proud to go out and continue to win games."

With the win, the 17th-ranked Lions close out the regular season 11-5 overall, and 6-0 in NJAC play. The Cougars dropped to 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the NJAC.

"Nothing is ever given to us," said Flagler. "Every game, especially conference games, we know that we have to go out and get the job done."

The Lions opened the scoring with Allie Gorman scoring off a feed from Jaeger, followed by Alex Fitzpatrick scoring her team-leading 54th of the season from Jessica Allen.

The teams would exchange goals with the Cougars drawing to 4-3 with just over seven minutes remaining in the first half. TCNJ would take over at that point. Jaeger scored two straight to put the Lions up 6-3 at the half.

The Lions took complete control of the game to start the second. Jaeger opened the scoring to complete a natural hat trick before goals from Gorman and a pair by Kasey Donoghue put TCNJ up 10-3. Jaeger would score three more wrapped around a pair of Kean goals, before Harvey closed out the scoring.

"We really came together as a team in the second half," said Chrone. "We start connecting on all of our passes, really believing in each other, and that was a game changer."

Chrone made six saves in net to earn the save. The goalie also scooped a team-high four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. Brenna Jaffe led the Lions defense with three caused turnovers.

The Lions, who will be the number one seed in the NJAC Tournament, will play the number four seed on Wednesday.

"It is a different mentality for us," said Harvey. "We feel like we need to be the ones walking off the field winning. I think that is how we've approached every game all four years."
